Wall hangings made for Jan Presberg's and Tim Wells' Daughters

Hannah Rose Wells

For their first daughter, Hannah Rose, in honor of her middle name, I made a quilt of pieced yellow roses and hand quilted a lattice and rosebuds in the background.  Her name and birth date are hand embroidered in the center.
The label says, "This quilt was machine pieced and hand quilted for Hannah Rose Wells by her Grandpa Harry’s first cousin Martha Presberg Supnik in Carlisle, Massachusetts.  It was begun in May 1997 and finished in September 1998.  The pieced rose pattern was designed by Arlene Camfield of Arlington, Texas and published in Quiltmaker Magazine Sept/Oct 1993.  The quilted rosebud pattern was designed by Brenda Lopez of Sacramento, California and published in Quiltmaker Magazine early winter 1989.  The idea for the arrangement of the flowers came from the quilt on the cover of “Patchwork Persuasion” by Joen Wolfrom."

Emily Terrell Wells

Emily's quilt was thought about when she was born and then put on the back burner until January 2005.  I was going on vacation and needed a project to take along.  Jan said the girls were sharing a room with bunk beds and sent me a photo of the comforters she'd gotten.  She said Emily's favorite color was purple and there was pink, green and yellow in the room as well.
Here's a closeup of the quilt showing the 2 fabrics I found in 2 different stores but from the same manufacturer and designer so they went perfectly together.
I embroidered Emily's name and birth date on the quilt like I had for her sister and hand quilted it when I returned from vacation.
Here's a sample of one of the fabrics in the quilt.
The label says, "This quilt was machine pieced, hand embroidered and hand quilted for Emily Terrell Wells by her Grandpa Harry’s first cousin Martha Presberg Supnik of Carlisle, Massachusetts.  It was begun in February 2005 on vacation in Little Cayman Island in the Caribbean and finished in May 2005 at home.  The pattern came from the book “Quick Watercolor Quilts” by Dina Pappas published in 1999.  The Pansyfield and Garden Freesia fabrics went together so well because they were both designed for Michael Miller Fabrics.  Purple was chosen because it’s Emily’s favorite color and the heart was chosen because both her mother and father work to “mend broken hearts.”
