More Wedding Quilts

Geoff and Judy Epstein (2006)

This “Big Dog” lap quilt was machine pieced and machine quilted especially for my cousin Geoffrey Epstein and Judith Skirment Epstein in honor of their marriage on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006 and their new home together in Pittsford, NY.  The dog pattern was adapted from the book “It’s Raining Cats and Dogs” by Janet Kime.

Here's the back of this reversible quilt showing the dog fabrics I picked for this couple with 2 dogs.
Since the quilt is reversible, I put the label on an applique dog bone right on the front.

Epstein-Zillmann Autograph Quilt (2009)

This wedding wall hanging was made for my cousin Steve Epstein and his husband Tomas Zillmann who were married legally with a few witnesses at City Hall in San Francisco when it was briefly legal and again (not legally) surrounded by family and friends at Steve’s mother’s house in Rochester, NY the following August. The colors of eggplant and charcoal grey were chosen by Tomas. I machine pieced the top before the wedding, asked each guest at the reception to sign their block, then hand quilted it afterward.  The setting forms “Hugs and Kisses”.

Here's a close-up of the quilt showing some of the many autographs by family and friends at the wedding reception

Schatz Shuman Fruit Quilt (2011)

This “Fruit” lap quilt was machine pieced and machine quilted especially for my cousin Benjamin Schatz and Saskia Shuman in honor of their marriage on Sunday, September 4, 2011 for their home together in Brooklyn, NY.  The geometric pattern was inspired by an antique quilt made in Massachusetts at the turn of the last century.

I chose to use fruit print fabrics because Ben's mother said they love cooking and eating out in New York City.

I used a fabric covered with wine bottles for the back of the quilt because they took their honeymoon in Italy and appreciate good wine.
