Here we all are in our finest plumage
on Columbus Day weekend
at Ben and Lori's wedding

Martha says: Our family grew still larger in 2007.   I now have 2 beautiful daughters-in-law, seven "grand pets", Bob's sister Lee living nearby and visiting regularly, and a pair of shelter kittens we named Pumpkin and Pixel.  Ben and Lori planned a lovely wedding on Columbus Day weekend at Onteora Mountain House in the Catskill Mountains. I enjoyed sewing their chuppah, Lori's veil,  my mother-of-the groom outfit, and Bob's matching tuxedo vest and tie. Our vacations included diving and quilting in Bonaire in February and camping at Timberlock with all the kids in August.  I continue to volunteer at the New England Quilt Museum where there have been many staff changes and lots more volunteers are always needed.  And every special occasion becomes an excuse for me to make still more quilts for friends and family.

Bob says: My startup company, SiCortex is now three years old.  In 2007, we went from first chips in house to three different products (affectionately known as Papa, Mama, and Baby Bear) shipped to more than half a dozen customers.  The coming year will see ever more involvement with customers and thus, in all likelihood, more travelling.  My volunteer work with groups that subtitle animé has continued to be very interesting.  This year, I've worked on more than 30 shows, ranging from children's shows (Peter Pan), to shounen action shows (Kekkaishi), to shoujo soap operas (Nana) and most every other genre.  My growing experience as a "fansub" editor reinforces my impression that the present generation of college students (who do the bulk of the work) are sadly lacking in knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.  The SimH simulation project has been on a bit of a back-burner this year, waiting new inspiration.

Ben says:  2007 was a very eventful year for Lori and me. We got married on October 7, 2007, at Onteora Mountain House in New York. We were fortunate to have so many members of the Supnik and Presberg clans join our celebration. We also adopted a retriever mix named Cece in June. She is a handful but a wonderful addition to our family (although the cat seems to feel otherwise). Lori changed jobs again and joined beltway bandit Northrop Grumman as a Chinese linguist, while Ben's company released the beta of X-Plane version 9.0. All this happened as we worked on improving and furnishing our home in Laurel, MD. Needless to say, we are looking forward to a slightly calmer 2008.

Jonathan says: The word for the year is puppies. We adopted Cerberus and Jade from Adoptalab.org on the first of June, and they've brought love, fun, and a truly daunting amount of work and responsibility to the house. My company is just about ready to ship Blokus in January, the first game for which I have the first developer's credit, which is a fairly major career milestone. <Shameless Plug>Blokus is the number one selling board game on Amazon.com. Check out our demo in early January-- it's free to play for an hour and only $20 to own for yourself. </Shameless Plug> Larissa was given a Masters' degree with Real Latin Lettering (TM) for her ongoing work at Tufts University. Qualifying exams are the next hurdle on her way to a PhD in computer science. Next year we're looking forward to replacing our only bathroom.
